Nairobi - Five people including four New Zealand nationals were killed in western Kenya when the van they were travelling in skidded out of control and rolled downhill, police said on Thursday.
Local police chief Lawrence Karama said the Monday accident occurred in the town of Vihiga.
"They sustained serious injuries when the accident occurred but they later died in hospital in Kisumu," he said of the accident.
The fifth person killed was a Kenyan. The New Zealanders had been in Kenya visiting a school they sponsored.
"We are yet to establish the exact cause of the accident but since it was raining, it appears the driver lost control of the vehicle," Karama said.
