VIDEO: Giraffe gives mountain biker a scare

04 September 2013, 10:46

Abuja - A giraffe and a mountain biker played a dangerous game of cat and mouse that left an expensive bicycle tattered in a nature reserve in South Africa.

Louis-John Rex and a friend was riding in the beautiful Groenkloof Nature Reserve outside the South African capital Pretoria when they were confronted by the majestic animal, Volksblad reports.

“We were going up a steep hill when the animal appeared before us,” Rex said.

“I waited for him to move on, but it kept on coming towards us. I had to get off my bike – there was no time to ride away.”

The giraffe then stamped on Rex’s R30 000 (N475 647) bicycle before standing on its destroyed remains.

“When I tried to get my bike back, the giraffe turned around and started chasing me – around the bush. He was obviously annoyed,” Rex explained.

Rex then had to walk his broken bicycle 3km back to his car.
