Zim voter 'rigging' captured on camera

01 August 2013, 12:01

Cape Town - A video has emerged in which alleged Zanu-PF youths were bussed in from "undisclosed rural areas" to vote in Harare's Mount Pleasant suburb. The development raises questions about where they were meant to vote.

Nehanda radio posted a video on its website on Thursday showing the Movement for Democratic Change Secretary general Tendai Biti at a polling station in Harare talking to a presiding officer.

"How can we cheat blatantly like this.... I think we shouldn't allow this.... Officer we don't want to be accused of destructiveness but this is not on... We can’t allow this" he says.

In the same video, the driver of the bus fails to say where he got his passengers from, saying only "authorities" could say.

The video strengthens allegations that President Robert Mugabe's Zanu-PF party  with the help of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), wants to steal the polls.
