Lagos - The Arik Air says it will launch direct flight to Dubai on July 28.
This is according to the airline's Chief Executive Officer, Dr Michael Arumemi-Ikhide.
Arumemi-Ikhide was quoted as saying that the direct flight is part of its expansion strategies on long-haul operations.
According to the statement, the airline believes that great potential on this route will drive Arik Air to increase its flight capacity in the future.
"The commencement of flights by Arik Air into Dubai will make it become the first Nigerian carrier to offer services between Abuja and the United Arab Emirates.
The statement said Dubai was the fastest growing market from West Africa with Lagos-Dubai route alone achieving over 200 000 passengers in 2013.
It added that the airline would offer competitive fares in the route to attract Nigerian passengers.
