Aviation Minister's woes worry PDP

29 October 2013, 16:52

Abuja - The ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) is "worried" by the accusations levelled against Stella Oduah, the Minister of Aviation.

This follows pressure piling on the Minister after the controversial purchase of posh cars by her Ministry.

In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh, the party said it would  never condone any form of corruption.

"It is common knowledge that at one time or the other, some members of the top leadership of our party or their relatives faced charges of corruption and never was the law restrained from taking its full course," Metuh  said.

"To us as a party, the accusations of corruption in the Aviation Ministry is a big worry. It is for this reason that the President and the leader of our Party has set up a panel to investigate the matter while the National Assembly which we also lead has stepped in. We commend the President and the National Assembly for doing what is appropriate in the circumstance. "

Oduah is under pressure to resign following the controversial purchase of the armoured vehicles and a spate of recent air crashes.
