Abuja - Operators of bureau de change on Tuesday stormed the National Assembly to seek the intervention of the federal lawmakers on the N35m capital base recently imposed on each of them by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), reports Daily Independent.
The operators, who met the Committees on Finance of both chambers said the policy would worsen the current unemployment problem in the country if implemented.
Aminu Gwadabe, acting President of the Association of Bureau De Change of Nigeria, said the policy would further lead to an embarrassing devaluation of the nation’s currency because many operators would close down.
The operators had before their meeting with the lawmakers met with the Governor of Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele, on the same issue.
