Abuja - The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has denied reports of her resignation as reported in some online media channels.
In a press statement signed by Paul Nwabuikwu, Special Adviser to the Minister, her office denied the resignation.
“It has come to our attention that a story is circulating online about the purported resignation of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. For the avoidance of doubt, this story is not true,” Nwabuikwu stated.
He assured Nigerians that the minister would ensure that macro-economic stability was maintained through tight fiscal and monetary policies.
“The Finance Minister is still in place and assures Nigerians that all will be done to ensure that macro-economic stability is maintained through tight fiscal and monetary policies,” Nwabuikwi stated.
Some online media outfit reported that the Minister tendered her letter of resignation to President Goodluck Jonathan earlier this week following the controversy surrounding funds accrued from the sale of crude oil.
