Lagos - A war of words is brewing between two federal government agencies, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and Consumer Protection Council (CPC) over what NCAA termed unlawfully intrusion into its area of jurisdiction, reports Nigerian Pilot
The disagreement follows the sanctions imposed by CPC on Aero Contractors Airline for delaying passengers at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airports for over 15 hours. The airline was directed to compensate the affected 39 passengers in line with the NCAA’s Passenger Bill of Rights.
But in a swift reaction, NCAA expressed grave concerns over the intermittent encroachment of CPC into matters within NCAA’s regulatory purview.
Fan Ndubuoke , NCAA’s General Manager, Public Affairs, noted that it is only the agency that has the power to enforce Part 19 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (NCARs).
