Lagos - There are strong indications that the Federal Government may have banned the importation of fish and other food products into the country, reports Leadership.
The move is meant to encourage local production and create markets for farmers involved in fish production.
Nigeria is expected to save about N2 trillion which it currently loses in freight to other countries from where Nigeria imports fish.
To effect the ban, the government has mandated port terminal operators to stop receiving fish product cargoes, which were dated later than October 31, 2013.
