Abuja - President Goodluck Jonathan has given an order to government ministries and departments to make use of locally produced vehicles.
He spoke at an event organised by the Stallion Group, makers of Nissan vehicles in Nigeria, to showcase the first five 'Made-in-Nigeri' Nissan vehicles to the government to mark their local production and commemorate the restoration of democracy in the country.
Stallion’s Group Chairman, Sunil Vaswani, who led the Stallion-Nissan delegation to Abuja, presented three models of Nissan vehicles to President Jonathan.
He commended the federal government’s automotive policy initiative, describing it as a historic step towards industrial and economic rejuvenation.
Vaswani thanked the president for the national automotive policy initiative that facilitated the production of Nissan vehicles in Nigeria.
The models included the Nissan Patrol Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), Nissan Almera (Sunny) saloon car and the Nissan NP 300 pick-up.
