Abuja - The Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, has ordered the new board of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to ensure improved power supply by June.
Nebo, who gave the order at the inauguration of the TCN board, said it was in line with President Goodluck Jonathan‘s directive.
“I wish to charge the principal sector players here today to ensure that power supply to our customers is significantly and visibly improved by June this year as directed by Mr. President.
“Much is expected of us all and the entire nation is waiting for us,’’ he said.
He said the Federal Government had already committed a lot to the power sector and would not tolerate any excuses for non-performance from any of the stakeholders in the sector.
He described the TCN as critical to the success of the power sector reform and the transformation agenda for the sector.
He specifically ordered the TCN Board Chairman, Ibrahim Waziri, to reposition the company to ensure efficiency and professionalism.
Waziri, in his response, thanked Jonathan for the opportunity given the members to serve the nation, especially at a time the power sector was going through critical reforms.
He described the sector as critical to the growth of the economy, and pledged to fast-track transformation of the sector.
“It is with a deep sense of honour and privilege that I humbly accept this important national assignment to serve as chairman of the TCN.
