Abuja - An Abuja Federal High Court presided over by Justice Ahmed Mohammed has ordered the House of Representatives not to go ahead with its proposed probe of the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.
The judge ordered the stoppage of the probe after the counsel to the minister informed the court that the House committee is threatening to arrest the minister if she does not appear despite the pendency of the action, reports Premium Times.
The judge in his ruling ordered parties to maintain the status quo pending the hearing of the substantive suit.
He noted that the filing of the suit did not amount to usurping the legislative powers of the National Assembly as claimed by the committee.
