Ikeja - The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company said it has earmarked N600 million for the upgrade of its facilities in the coming month.
The company made the disclosure at its Consumers Forum held in Ikeja, Lagos.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Abiodun Ajifowobaje, said the fund would be specifically used to purchase new transformers and prepaid meters.
“The board has approved about N600m for quick intervention on transformer installation and pre-paid meter installation, and we have started the pilot metering scheme.
He said that with the N600 million, the company hoped to install about 115 transformers into its coverage areas in the state in the next one month.
Ajifowobaje said this will be augmented with the installation of 6 000 pre-paid meters in the next one month, while another 7 000 meters will be added thereafter.
He enjoined customers who have already made payment to come the company office to pick up their prepaid meters.
