Kogi to establish 16 cassava processing factories

31 July 2013, 11:51

Kogi -  Gov Idris Wada Kogi has approved the building of 16 cassava processing factories in the state, Dr Temitope Sinkaye, Special Adviser to Wada on Youth and Women Development said on Tuesday.

Sinkaye made this known at Odu-Ogboyaga, Dekina LocaL Government Area, at the inauguration of the centre for transportation of cassava grits to Jos and other areas.

According to her, the establishment of the factories will boost the production capacity of cassava as well as to create more jobs.

She said that the initiative would also increase internally generated revenue of the state.

Sinkaye noted that with the transportation of the processed cassava products to other areas, the Ogboyaga Cassava Processing Centre had become a dream come true.

She encouraged farmers and youths to take advantage of the centres to reduce or eliminate cassava glut in the state.
