Main One goes inland in Nigeria

16 July 2013, 10:27

Lagos - Main One, the undersea cable company, has expanded to the inland locations in the south western parts of Nigeria.

Officials said the move was part of broader efforts to rapidly enhance broadband penetration across the country.

Speaking at a business forum in Ibadan, Main One Head of Sales for Nigeria, Bolanle Ogundogba, said they are collaborating with various telcos and national long distance operators and will now be able to serve enterprise customers in the inland region.

He said the company’s expansion into the region is driven by the growing demand for reliable connectivity solutions, an increased need for virtual private networks between organizational branches, as well as increased security challenges.

“Most multinational and businesses enterprises are increasingly looking for growth opportunities in the south west states such as Ogun, Oyo, Osun, among others.

The 14 000-km Main One cable stretches from Portugal to South Africa with landings along the route in various west African countries.
