Abuja – The Minister of Water Resources, Serah Ochepe, has donated equipment to the Plateau State Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development to enhance the state’s rural electrification project.
Among the equipment donated are ten transformers.
The Minister made the donation through the management of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) in Jos.
She said the gesture was part of her desire to impact positively on the lives of rural dwellers in the Plateau State.
The equipment the minister donated consisted of two 500KVA, 33.415KV distribution transformers, six 300KVA, 3310.415KV and two 50KVA -11/0.415 distribution transformers.
Engineer Danjuma Chirdang, who received the equipment, lauded the minister for her generosity and challenged other well-meaning individuals and firms to emulate her efforts and complement government efforts to empower the people.
He meanwhile revealed that the Plateau State Government had approved the sum of N2.7 million (US$16 200) for the transportation of the equipment from Lagos to the state for onward distribution to the rural communities.
Chirdang said officials of the State Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development were expected to accompany their counterparts from the PHCN to the capital city to transport the items and electrical conductors for immediate commencement of work on the project as directed by the state government.
