Lagos - Despite its rejection by Nigerians, the Central Bank of Nigeria said it has concluded plans to produce and roll out N5 000 notes in 2014.
Tunde Lemo, CBN’s Deputy Governor, said the N5 000 note project was never abandoned but was only stopped due to the low level of understanding of its benefits among Nigerians, reports Osun Defender.
He said Nigerians would in the next one to two months start seeing the notes in circulation.
He added that the bank plans to educate the people on the importance of the notes to our economy before its launch.
