Abuja - Over N776 billion is missing from the N873 billion spent on fertiliser subsidy over the past 30 years.
The money, jointly disbursed by both the federal and state governments, went missing between 1980 and 2010, reports the Nation.
Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, disclosed this on Thursday at a breakfast meeting with the Governor of Central Bank, Sanusi Lamido and Managing Directors of selected banks.
Adesina said the money went missing because government was actively involved in the purchase and disbursement of the product to farmers across the country.
He, however, said things have changed as private companies are now the ones selling the product to farmers through the e-wallet system.
