Lagos- The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) may issue fresh sanctions against telecommunications operators for failing to abide by the rules governing the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) scheme, reports National Mirror.
Dr. Eugene Juwah, NCC's Executive Vice Chairman, accused GSM operators of not keeping to the rules and procedures guiding MNP and threatened to sanction operators who are deliberately violating the rules.
He said it was wrong for any operator to deny subscribers their rights to port, even if they have some outstanding debts to clear.
He noted that the commission did not impose the MNP on operators, saying it was an agreement reached between the operators and regulator and they must abide by the rules governing the scheme.
