New aircraft drives Med-View expansion plans

20 January 2014, 16:00Henry Ifeanyi

Lagos - Med-View Airline, the local carrier, says it has taken delivery of a Boeing 737-800 for the commencement of its new Kano-Jeddah route.

The aircraft, which was delivered to the airline at the weekend, brings the number of its fleet to four.

The airline said it plans to acquire more aircraft in the coming months to help drive in its international route expansion.

Speaking at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, Managing Director of the Airline,  Alhaji Muneer Bankole, said the new B737-800 would significantly boost its operations.

He said that the airline was already shopping for appropriate aircraft that would suit different long and medium routes such as the Enugu-Singapore and Lagos-Dubai routes.

Bankole also hinted that the airline had entered into negotiations with some carriers on code-share arrangement.

With the delivery of the Boeing 737-800 aircraft, Bankole said it will airlift its first passengers from Kano to Jeddah before the end of this month.
