Abuja – The federal legislators in Nigeria receive higher salaries than those in countries such as the United States and Britain, All Africa reports.
According to an analysis published by the Economist, legislators in Nigeria receive an annual salary of about $189 000 (N30 million), which is 116 times Nigeria’s gross domestic product (GDP) per person.
Nigerian legislators earn more than legislators in Britain, United States, France, South Africa and Brazil. Only their Australian counterparts receive higher amounts ($201 200 annual salary) but their salary is only three times the GDP per person of their country.
