Lokoja - The Miners Association of Nigeria said that it had formed partnership
with the Miners Association of Canada to attract funding and modern technology.
The National President of the association, Sani Malali, who disclosed this
in Lokoja said that the partnership would also cover training and capacity
building for his colleagues.
He said that the move was informed by the desire to acquire new mining
techniques, create wealth for Nigeria miners and employment opportunities for
Malali said that getting the required funds to the sector had been a major
challenge for years and expressed optimism that the new partnership will put an
end to this.
He said that Nigerian miners had much to benefit from their Canadian
counterparts, saying that Canada had much experience in the trade.
“They have heard that Nigeria and Africa, as a whole, are virgin areas for mining
“Since deposits here are begging for attention, we believe that it makes
sense to invite our colleagues in other parts of the world so that we can work
together," he said.-
