Prices of rams down in Katsina

25 October 2012, 12:30

Katsina - Prices of rams have gone down in Katsina State, two days to Ed-el-Kabir celebrations, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

This is the outcome of market survey conducted by NAN in Kaita, Katsina, Dankama, Mai’adua, Jibia, Charanchi, Mashi and Kafur markets, in the state on Wednesday.

The survey revealed that this year, prices of the animals ranged from N19 000 to N50 000 as against N25 000 to N60 000 last year.

Many of the ram sellers, who spoke to NAN, on the issue attributed the development to the general cash crunch in the country.

As a result of the lull in the sale of rams, many of the sellers were seen roaming streets in major towns of the state with their rams soliciting looking for buyers.

One of the sellers at Yar’kutugu market in Katsina, Alhaji Abba Mai’raguna said it is "the work of God" that the prices of the rams are relatively lower this year compared to last year.
