Lagos - Credit to the private sector by Nigerian commercial banks increased year-on-year to N16.964 trillion at the end of June 2014, the latest money and credit statistics from the Central Bank of Nigeria has shown.
The figure is N195 billion higher than the N16.769 trillion that banks gave to the private sector as loan in the preceding month of May, reports ThisDay.
The total amount of currency-in-circulation dropped to N1.497 trillion in June from the N1.518 trillion figure at the end of May while currency outside banks also fell to N1.162 trillion in June, from N1.205 trillion recorded in the previous month of May,
