Abuja - Angry exchanges of words at a meeting between the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and members of the House of Representatives Committee on Finance led to the Reps walking out the minister. The minister had appeared before the committee to address members on the state of the nation’s economy.
In sending her out, they handed her a document containing 50 questions on the Nigerian economy, which they said the minister must answer at her next appointment with the committee, reports Premium Times.
The meeting became stormy shortly after the minister complained that she was indisposed to speak. The committee in its wisdom offered to grant her two weeks of rest and to reappear to speak to members at the end of the rest period.
The ruling, however, did not go down well with her as she started protesting. At one point, Okonjo-Iweala accused the committee members of being rude and disrespectful to a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
