Lagos – Airtel Nigeria has been hit by a spate of resignations of senior officials at the company.
The company's general manager for brand and communication, Eyitemi Taire, resigned from his position to join brewery giant Guinness Nigeria where she will take on a role as trade marketing manager.
The resignation comes barely a fortnight after the resignation of chief marketing officer, Olu Akanmu.
Akanmu quit over the alleged decision of the company to publish adverts in some national dailies without the vetting approval of the Advertising Standards Panel (ASP), an action taken without getting clearance from his office.
Although the company later issued a release that Akanmu, a vastly experienced marketing professional resigned to pursue higher career goals, news quickly spread that his resignation followed his discovery that Airtel, in breach of APCON rules and in violation of an existing court order, published an advert in one of Nigeria’s national dailies without his clearance.
Since his sudden departure, Airtel has been unable to hire a replacement.
