Skye Bank appoints new boss

17 April 2014, 14:06Henry Ifeanyi

Lagos - Skye Bank Plc has appointed Timothy Oguntayo as its new Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank.

Oguntayo would take over the leadership of the bank from current CEO Kehinde Durosinmi-Etti, who will retire in July.

The bank said the appointment of Oguntayo was consistent with the bank’s tradition and succession strategy of grooming leaders from within.

According to the statement, Oguntayo is an alumnus of INSEAD, Fontainebleau in France and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.

He is also an associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and has over two decades of banking experience in corporate finance and investment banking, business development, credit and marketing, and operations.

Oguntayo was appointed to the board of the bank and its subsidiary companies in 2009.

He was the pioneer Chief Executive Officer of Skye Financial Services Limited, the investment banking arm of Skye Bank, before the bank’s divestment from it in 2012.

The board meanwhile announced the appointment of Amaka Onwughalu as Deputy Managing Director of the bank.

The bank said both appointments were subject to appropriate regulatory approval.
