Lagos - Edcon, South Africa’s largest clothing retailer, will open stores in Nigeria and Ghana in 2014, as it searches for higher yield and untapped consumer spending potential in the sub-region, reports BusinessDay.
Jürgen Schreibe, Edcon CEO, said the region remains an exciting opportunity for his company to go forward and that the fashion house is coming to Nigeria because the market is quite strong.
He said Edcon will use its discount fashion brand, Jets and Edgars to move into the Nigerian market.
Aside South Africa, Edcon operates 154 stores across Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
