Lagos - In a stern warning to tax evaders, the government has asked them to either pay their dues voluntarily or face penal action which could include arrest and prosecution, reports The Nation.
Kabir Mashi, Acting Executive Chairman of FIRS, said the agency will bring the full weight of the law against individuals and corporate bodies who fail to remit their tax returns to government as and when due.
He said it is no longer business as usual for individuals and companies who circumvent tax laws, as the agency will enforce the provisions in the tax laws relating to prosecution of culprits.
He enjoined tax payers to fulfill their tax obligations voluntarily rather than act in breach.
