Lagos - The whistle-blowing former Group Executive Director of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI ) , Laurence Do Rego has resigned from the company, reports ThisDay.
Do Rego had reported the bank’s former Chairman, Kolapo Lawson and Chief Executive Officer, Thierry Tanoh to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) over plans to sell the bank’s assets below market value.
Ecobank’s bookkeeping is now under investigation by SEC. The fiasco has evolved into one of country’s biggest corporate scandals.
Although it initially denied wrongdoing, the bank said Tanoh would forgo his $1.14 million bonus for 2012 while Lawson stepped down as chairman of the bank
