Akwa Ibom 2023: APC party of liars, deciets - Akpabio
Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio has alerted the people of Oro
nation to beware of a plot to deceive them by the opposition in the guise of
promising them the governorship come 2023.
The Akwa Ibom governor gave the counsel during the
Governorship campaign rally of the PDP at Mbo and Udung Uko Local Government
Areas respectively. Governor Akpabio expressed shock that, the very forces from
Uyo Senatorial District, who fought vehemently to resist zoning of the
governorship to Eket Senatorial District, and sponsored propaganda to prevent
power shift are now the ones promising to make an Oro man governor after he
might have served for 8 years by 2023.
Chief Akpabio wondered if it is an abomination for those
people who hail from a Senatorial District(Uyo) that has produced 3 governors
since the creation of Akwa Ibom state to shelve their personal ambition and
pave way for an Oro candidate to stand for the elections now for equity,
fairness and social justice, harping that, this was the only way such persons
will prove that they truly love Oro nation. Akpabio further wondered how
persons who said they don't recognize zoning, will double speak and claim they
will zone the governorship to Oro nation in the distant future and described
the claim as a scam and deceit of the highest order. He therefore charged Oro
people to avoid propaganda and keep faith with the PDP which has ceded the
governorship to their Eket Senatorial district, and assured that as one of
their own, the PDP candidate will accommodate, advance and protect their
interest as they will have nothing to lose.

Governor Akpabio while dismissing insinuations that Ibaka
deep seaport has been relocated, also revealed that, after 26 meetings with Oro
Think tank and leaders, they could not arrive at a consensus candidate among
eight aspirants for the governorship to strengthen and streamline their
negotiating power, and this led to the abortion of the hope for a candidate of
Oro extraction. He however pledged and hoped that, in his lifetime, he would
see a governor emerge from there.
Speaking at the rally, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, the
Governorship standard bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP assured the
people of Mbo and Udung Uko Local Government Areas that he remains the only
governorship candidate who has the model for the proposed Ibaka deep seaport,
dismissing as totally false, reports of the relocation of the seaport away from
Ibaka by the opposition.
The governorship hopeful maintained that his experience in
the corporate world gives him the advantage of connecting easily with potential
investors in the marine sector of Mbo and Udung Uko.
Deacon Emmanuel disclosed that, he had already recommended
that the industrial park donated by the NDDC should be located in Mbo, adding
that, his passion for the industrial turn around of Mbo and Udung Uko, while
still a private sector player, made him to direct one of his friends who was
interested in building a tank-farm to locate it in Mbo.
Deacon Emmanuel also revealed that, his administration
intends to, turn the tide by developing Akwa Ibom from hinterland, and affirmed
that dualized road infrastructure connecting the coastal areas to other parts
of the state will soon be a reality, and specifically cited, Eyo atai/ Udensi
road, Eyo Abasi/Etebi road and the completion of the Etebi –Enwang road with
the longest bridge in the State, if it is not completed within the life span of
this administration. Pledging to build a cottage hospital in Udung Uko and
transform the Usung/Eniong beaches in the area to standard beaches that can
drive commerce and tourism, Udom promised to sustain the legacy of uncommon
transformation in the area.
Prominent sons and daughters of both local Governments, all
