Abia contestants urged to embrace new governor

Abia - Outgoing Abia State Governor, Theodore Orji, has appreciated the people of the state for coming out in numbers to vote in the just-ended governorship poll.

He hailed the election of his People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu.

“I want to sincerely thank the good people of Abia for electing our Governor Elect, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu as the new Governor of Abia State. With this victory, the jinx of an Ngwa man not becoming a Governor has been broken at last. Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu is young, vibrant and he possesses good leadership qualities and i trust he will do exceedingly well as the Governor of our Great State,” Orji said.

Orji said his successor was young, vibrant and possesses good leadership qualities.

He said the governor-elect is a man of his own will serve the people of the state without external manipulations.

“Okezie Victor Ikpeazu is his own man, therefore we expect him to work and serve Abians without external manipulations,” said Orji.

The governor called on other candidates that contested the election with the governor-elect to embrace Ikpeazu.

“Let me also use this opportunity to call on others that contested this position with him, to embrace Dr Victor Ikpeazu for a purposeful inclusive Government and partner with him for accelerated growth and development of our dear state,” Orji said.
