Lagos – The Abia State has cautioned politicians against making unguarded and rash statements against Governor Theodore Orji and his administration.

The caution comes on the back of statements attributed to former Governor of the State, Orji Uzor Kalu.

The former governor was quoted to have said in an interview, “Our people will burn down the state. We are ready for them. The Governor cannot try it, if he tries it, it will be the end of his administration.”
The grievances of the ex-governor were not ascertained.

However, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dr ACB Agbazuere, denounced such sentiments and deterred politicians including the governorship candidate of the Progressives People’s Alliance (PPA), Chikwe Udensi, from making them.

“Government will not tolerate further hounding of the State Government from any quarter,” Agbazuere said.

He said the statements attributed to the Kalu were treasonable as they connoted that the former governor had concluded plans to wage a war against the state.

“The provisions of the Nigeria criminal code are very clear on such violation,” Agbazuere.
