Akwa Ibom Governor elect promises selfless service

2015-04-13 19:46

Akwa Ibom - The Akwa Ibom Governor-elect, Mr Emmanuel Udom, on Monday promised to render selfless service to the people to take the state to an enviable height.

Udom made the promise during an interaction with newsmen in his home town, Awa in Onna Local Government Area of the state.

He said that his administration would run an all-inclusive government where all the people of Akwa Ibom would benefit irrespective of their tribe.

Udom said the people deserved better service, adding that they would feel the impact of his administration and have their lives transformed for the better.

"We will operate an open door administration where all interests would be considered.

"We are coming in for what will benefit the people and not to benefit us, we are coming in with selfless service that is what we want to render to the people.

"So that at the end of the day, we will compare when we came in with when we leave the place and find out if we are leaving it better than we met it,’’ he said.

Udom said that on assumption of office, his administration would apply appropriate pricing that would help to strengthen the purchasing power of the people and create wealth for them.

The governor-elect said that he would consolidate on the development of his successor.

"It’s a whole lot that we have in mind to do, so, we will not ignore any of the projects that are pending,’’ he said.

He denied the allegation that there was internal problem in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, saying the PDP settled its differences before going to the polls.

"It’s a different ball game. The reality is always different from the sentiment.

"You don’t actually project the sentiment beyond the reality and the reality goes beyond the sentiment.

"I am the governor-elect and the party is just the platform, the destination is what people will look up to, people are eager to enjoy the dividends of democracy,’’ he said.

He thanked the Akwa Ibom people for their support toward his emergence and promised to carry everybody along.

"People don’t care about the platform you use in giving them governance, in Nigeria we have gone beyond that in our democracy, nobody is talking about platform any longer.’’

He urged the people of Akwa Ibom to join hands with him to move the state forward.
