Lagos - All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos Governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode has emerged winner in the governorship election in Lagos beating his arch rival of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Jimi Agbaje.
The returning officer of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State, Professor Isaac Folorunso Adewole, said the APC candidate, Ambode polled a total of 811 994 votes to defeat Jimi Agbaje of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) who garnered 659 788 votes.

However, the PDP has rejected the result on the ground of what it called “the controversial” circumstances within which the election was conducted.
Out of the 20 local government areas of Lagos, Ambode won 15 while Agbaje won five.
Jimi Agbaje had earlier congratulated the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Akinwunmi Ambode, who was declared the winner of the Lagos state governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
