Gombe - The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, the winner of the presidential election held last Saturday in Gombe State, Vanguard reports.

The retuning officer of INEC, Professor Saminu Abdulrahman Ibrahim of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, announced that Buhari polled a total of 361 245 voters to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, who had a total of 96 873 votes.

He said that 1 110 105 were registered to vote in the election while 460 599 valid votes were recorded at the end of voting.

A breakdown of the results shows that APC candidate won in eight out of the 11 local government areas in the state.
