Abeokuta - Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole,has perfected plans to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Labour Party (LP) .
His decision to dump the PDP follows his failure to clinch the governorship ticket of the party in Ogun state, reports Vanguard.
Bankole had earlier indicated that he was going to join either the Labour Party or the Social Democratic Party to protest his failure to get the ticket. Also read: Bankole may dump PDP for SDP
As part of the planned defection, Bankole’s father , Alani Bankole on Sunday, held a closed-door meeting with Ogun State leaders of LP where he assured that Dimeji’s political structure would be collapsed into LP’s own
At the meeting Bankole’s father assured the party leaders that Dimeji would work for the victory of the party at the coming governorship poll.
Present at the meeting were the state’s Chairman of the party, Olabode Simeon, the secretary, Sunday Oginni, governorship candidate of the party, Abolaji Sunmola, his campaign Director- General, Abayomi Arabambi and other top leaders of the party in the state.
