Bayelsa campaign encourages PVCs collection

Abuja - The Bayelsa State Government has ogarnised a campaign to encourage the collection of permanent voter cards (PVCs) amid concern at the collection trends in the state.

Governor Seriake Dickson said the state government was not satisfied with the 66 per cent rate of PVC collection in the state particularly in Yenagoa Local Government Area hence the awareness campaign.

He urged eligible voters in the state to collect their voter card because failure to do so would deprive them of their voting rights.

"PVCs are the only instrument that wild enable them to exercise their franchise in the forth coming presidential and general elections," Dickson said.
Some of the areas the governor and his entourage are visiting as part of the campaign Igbogene, Agudama-Epie, Ekeki, Yenagoa main town, Ogbogoro and Famgbe communities.
The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Baritor Kpagih, said about 40 000 PVCs are expected to arrive the state.

He called on those who have lost their temporary voter cards to consult the commission to enable them obtain their PVCs.
