Abuja - The European Union (EU) election observers have ruled out monitoring the February general elections in the North-East due to the Boko Haram insurgency, reports Punch.

The Head of the EU delegation to Nigeria, Santiago Ayxela disclosed this on Monday when members of the mission visited the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Ayxela said the Mission will not risk sending observers to the north-east.
