Buhari’s London visit unsettles APC leaders

Abuja - There is a major disquiet in the ranks of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the unannounced London trip embarked upon by President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, reports Thisday.

Many of the party leaders are worried that the trip was the first clear signal that Buhari wants to run his government independently.

Not only did Buhari intentionally failed to inform the party’s leadership of his trip, he travelled with only two of his aides.

He was reported to have rejected the hotel booked for him by the Nigeria’s High Commissioner, Sarki Tafida but stayed in his usual central London holiday flat booked by his brother .

Immediately, some APC chieftains including the party’s National Leader, Bola Tinubu and Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi heard of Buhari’s trip, they hurriedly left for the UK to go and join him.

Amaechi was so desperate to meet with Buhari that he didn’t mind flying in the Economy cabin of Lufthansa Airways after futile attempts to get First or Business Class seats.
