Abuja - Local police have assured the European Union of the Force’s commitment and readiness to ensure a conducive environment for successful general elections.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Suleiman Abba, gave the assurance when he played host to a high powered European Union (EU) delegation led by its chief observer, Santiago Fisas.

According to Ojukwu, the police leader maintained that the Force would utilize the six weeks extension in the election date, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission last weekend, to advance its strategies and material requirement.

Ojukwu said Fisas saluted the level of professionalism of local police and urged it to provide a secured environment for a successful general election in late March and early April.
