Court to hear suit on Buhari’s eligibility Feb 23

Abuja - Legal proceedings commenced on Monday in the suits challenging the eligibility of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari to contest the 2015 presidential election, reports The News.

At Monday’s hearing, Buhari was presented by prominent senior advocates of Nigeria, including Wole Olanipekun, Akin Olujinmi, Lateef Fagbemi, Emeka Ngige, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, James Ocholi, Funke Aboyede and Femi Falana.

In his submission, Buhari told the court that he is opposing the suit in its entirety and also the order for substituted service.

He urged the court to adjourn the matter to enable him file all the necessary documents.

Justice Adeniyi Ademola adjourned the suits to February 23.

The court will on that date hear the applications for joinders filed by other interested parties seeking to be joined in both cases.
