Ebonyi Assembly moves to impeach Elechi

Abakaliki - The Ebonyi State Assembly on Tuesday began moves to impeach Gov. Martins Elechi, reports NewsDay.

The House at its sitting mandated Elechi to submit details of the financial accruals to the state, including Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), Federation Allocation and donor agencies to it on Friday, January 9, 2015.

The House also dissolved the caretaker chairmen of the 13 local government areas, and the 28 newly appointed coordinators of the Development Centres in the state.

The lawmakers equally dissolved all the boards of government parastatals in the state.

Tuesday’s sitting were attended by 18 out of 24 members of the assembly.

The 18 lawmakers are those loyal to the the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Anyim Pius Anyim,who has been having a running battle with the governor over the control of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
