Lagos - The Ekiti Justice Group (EJG) has condemned plans by some All Progressives Congress (APC) legislators to impeach the state's governor, Ayodele Fayose.

The organization, which claims to be apolitical, has written to the National Judicial Council (NJC) to oppose such plans.

EJG National Coordinator, Gbenga Babawibe, said the organization was aware that following the inauguration of Ayodele Fayose last October, some members of the State House of Assembly abdicated their responsibility as elected Assembly men, which led to the impeachment of the former Speaker Dr Adewale Omirin.

"Unfortunately, a recent and most distressing, harrowing and disturbing development occurred early April 2015, when the impeached.

Speaker purported to serve a Notice on Allegations of Impeachable Offences on Governor Ayodele Fayose and his Deputy, which the duo did not receive, and followed it up with a Letter to the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Ayodeji Daramola, directing him to constitute a Panel to
investigate the said Impeachable Offences," said Babawide in the letter to NJC.

He said such actions were "bizarre, ignoble, irresponsible and downrightly unlawful."

APC had been opposing the election of Fayose citing some irregularities.

Earlier this week, the Supreme Court dismissed a suit by the party challenging Fayose's election, saying it lacked merit.
