El-Rufai eager to restore Kaduna State

2015-04-16 13:06

Lagos - Kaduna State Governor-elect Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, pledged to restore peace and security in the area.

This follows the All Progressives Congress (APC) politician’s election at the recent governorship poll.

“The All Progressives Congress takes seriously its responsibility to build a harmonious society in Kaduna State," he told reporters in Kaduna.

"We are committed to fostering a secure, peaceful environment that gives the confidence to all the residents of the state to make the most of their talents. We will uphold the rule of law and the equality of all citizens.”

He said he hoped to meet Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero soon to begin consultations on the transition process.

“We will hit the ground running. The work of rebuilding Kaduna State begins immediately and every one of you has a role to play,” said El-Rufai.

El-Rufai polled a total of 1 117 635 votes to defeat the incumbent governor and the People’s Democratic Party candidate, Yero, who managed 48 5833.

El-Rufai disclosed the losing candidate had pledged to collaborate with the incoming administration to rebuild the state.

“I received a phone call from Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero congratulating the APC for its victory in the elections, and pledging to work with us to make Kaduna great again,” he said.
