Benin - Former Niger Delta militants have appealed to the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to zone the Speakership position of the House of Representatives to the South-South, reports Leadership.
The ex-militants under the aegis of the Niger Delta Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Movement (NDENYLM) said the commitment and doggedness of Governors Adams Oshiomhole and Rotimi Amaechi of Edo and Rivers states respectively, should be rewarded by zoning the position to the zone.

The group in a statement on Tuesday said ceding the position to the zone will boost the chances of the APC in future elections in the oil rich zone.
The group in the statement signed by its national secretary, Abamojie Soboma Ajudua, noted that the position will serve as compensation to the zone having lost the Presidency to the North.
The group stated that the people of the South South have anointed the member representing Owan Federal constituency of Edo state in the House of Representatives, Pally Iriase, for the position.
