Lagos - The People's Democratic Party (PDP) says the conflicting statements by Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi, and the management of some state agencies on the financial status of these government entities highlighted a deliberate effort and conspiracy to destroy the state.

The financial status of the State Waste Management Agency and the State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) has been in the spotlight ahead of the transition of power scheduled for May 29.

PDP chairman for the state, Felix Obuah, said it was high time the agencies made public all that had transpired between them and Amaechi that has necessitated the sudden nosedive of the state economy.

Obuah is therefore demanding to know the whereabouts of the huge sums of money amounting to over N200 billion and N100 billion to these agencies in the last two years respectively.

"This has indeed justified our cries and alarm that Amaechi had ulterior motives and was systematically pursuing a different agenda from providing leadership to the Rivers people and has nothing left to bequeath to the incoming government but penury. This also explains why he wanted a stooge who would succeed him to cover the monumental fraud which he saw in Dakuku Peterside. We have indeed been vindicated," Obuah stated.

Comment could not be obtained from APC officials, who nonetheless are contesting the election of PDP's Nyesom Wike as Governor.
