Abeokuta - Five political parties in Ogun State, namely the African Democratic Congress, Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, African People Alliance, Action Alliance and the People for Democratic Change, have endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Gboyega Isiaka.
The representatives of the political parties disclosed this at a news conference held in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Friday.
Speaking on behalf of the political parties, the state chairman, APA, Abdulmojeed Kilani, said the decision to adopt Isiaka as their candidate was made after series of deliberations in their parties.
He said the PDP governorship candidate would provide purposeful leadership that could drive the machinery of government and deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the state, which he said the Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led administration had failed to provide. Also read: Protest over plot to withdraw Isiaka’s governorship ticket
He said, “We are convinced beyond reasonable doubt that the integrity and quality of character possessed by Gboyega Isiaka will guarantee equity, justice and fair play for all our citizens and will take our dear state to the next level in the areas of social and economic development.
“We have observed that the present administration has been engrossed in cosmetic programmes, building bridges and roads which are concentrated in the urban areas with the exclusion of the rural areas.”
Describing Isiaka as a knowledgeable, diligent and upright person, Kilani explained that his programmes would transform the lives of the rural populace.
However, the state chairman, Unity Party of Nigeria, Prince Soye Oyenuga, said the party’s governorship candidate still remains Rotimi Paseda.
