Former ICP head slams at politicians

2015-01-23 11:01

Lagos - Former Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practises (ICP), Justice Akanbi, slammed politicians, saying that Nigerian politicians should not compare themselves to world leaders, reports Vanguard.

Akanbi, argues that if politicians are not going to sacrifice like the ones they are comparing themselves to, then they should not equate themselves to world class leaders.

Though the former chairman did not call out names, looking at the adverts on president Jonathan, they have compared the Presidential Runner, Goodluck Jonathan, to Barack Obama, and South Africa’s Nelson Mandela. He went on to say people fear those leaders because they fought against corruption, and did not take part in it.

As the Former head of the ICP highlights the achievements of leaders such as Singaporean’s Li Kwan Yew, he stated that these leaders suffered for the people they wanted to lead, as such if leaders of Nigerian are not prepared to do that, it means they should not compare themselves to these icons, he added.

He urged politicians to tell people the truth, and look at what leaders such Nelson Mandela have achieved, then ask themselves if they are going to do the same thing.

He concluded by saying that, Nigerian politicians of today failed to sacrifice, and added that if politicians were out to serve , there would be a few people running for positions.
