Group calls for dialog among PDP leaders

2015-05-22 19:59

Abuja - A group, known as Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Grass Root Supporters, has called on the leadership of the party to embrace dialogue rather than engage in blame game following the party’s defeat in the general elections.

Mr Desmond Adejo, who led members of the group on a protest to the PDP National Secretariat, made the call on Friday in Abuja.

He also called on those calling for the resignation of members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) to desist from such call, saying it was capable of disintegrating the party.

Adejo urged such persons to allow members of the committee to complete their constitutional tenure, stressing that they should not be coerced to resign.

He said the party's constitution should be adhered to where there was conflicting interest, adding that the provision of the constitution is supreme.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the protesters carried different placards with inscriptions such as: "NWC should not be made a scapegoat,’’ "APC leave PDP to rebuild,” among others.
